The Search for Closure

Submitted by Kathleen Lisson, Apr 18, 2007 09:44

It would seem that evidence is mounting that the only reason to prefer cork to alternate closure is based upon our emotional reactions to uncorking a wine. I am glad to see that high end wines are being shipped with alternate closures, because the wine novice can often think that wineries use a screw top to save money, not to ensure the continuing quality of their product as it is aged in the cellar.
Does anyone know of any New York wineries that utilize something besides a cork for their high end wines? I would love to visit one.
