Where the Bison Roam

After reading the article by Thomas Bray, I was enraged at his comments regarding the buffalo hunts by the Native Americans in the early days.

Where may I ask do you see mountains of skulls and bones piled up somewhere among the buttes of Montana? Unlike the pictures in history books where thousands of skulls are piled up by greedy buffalo hunters using only certain parts of the buffalo. The Native Americans were very frugal and used every part of the buffalo to maintain their lifestyle. Surely, you know they did not run to the local mercantile to pick up blankets, rugs, cooking utensils, etc. to maintain their family.

They were the early environmentalists of their day. They could not afford to walk away from a hunt and leave the buffalo to rot away. Their ceremonies consisted of every part of the buffalo. Where did you get your facts to say they buffalo were already close to extinction?

There is never a shortage of negative comments regarding Native Americans and our history..
