Undoubtedly slavery was a great evil which not only NY but many other states were able to reap the reward of cheap labor. However NY is a state whereby we are already over burdened by taxes. How do the politicions expect to pay for the reparations. Raise taxes of course. I m sorry to say that after being a very loyal NY'er and taxpayer for over 30 years, I relish the thought of leaving and paying $3000.00/ annum property taxes and not the $14000.0 I currently do. I will still be able to earn in excess of $100k/annum as the rest of the country has narrowed the gap in wages (the internet helped). Our pols need to realise the competition for population in other areas of the country. NY will lose population. They will go elsewhere. Not because they built it but because they keep taxing it. IF YOU TAX IT THEY WILL GO AWAY!
