As a resident of the Gulf region, one couldn't have been more disappointed with the British response. If Iran can get away with this it does make sense for none of the Gulf states to trust the west. It certainly makes more sense to cut a deal with Iran on their own because counting on the west for protection now seems an illusion. Also this ends the myth of a British navy capable of helping its allies. I wonder what lord Nelson would be thinking. I have seen journalist braver than the British marines. Every kid who saw them on TV could tel they were cowards.
