Mr. Nordlinger and I will have to agree to disagree about the purported merits of the Mozart Mass in C Minor, but I sincerely hope that he includes among the "couple of other supremely inspired works" to which he alludes in his opening paragraph Josquin's Missa Hercules Dux Ferrariae, Monteverdi's Vespers of 1610, Handel's Messiah, Haydn's "Lord Nelson" Mass, Berlioz's Requiem, and Stravinsky's Symphony of Psalms!
