We stayed in this region of France a few years back and I can honestly say it is without doubt one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited. We rented a converted farmhouse a mile or so outside the beautiful village of Daglan.

Everything you hear is true. There's no finer experience than sipping locally produced wine with freshly baked bread and local cheese in the serenity of this green paradise. I remember one warm and scented evening in particular, sitting tending the barbecue, sipping a gorgeous beaujolais whilst the children splashed in the pool and an electrical storm raged over the distant mountains. Heaven!

If you're lucky enough to follow in our footsteps, take time to sip a pastis outside Le Petit Paris - a delightful village cafe at Daglan, and also to visit Domme, a fortified hilltop 'bastide' town with marvellous views over the valley and many fine restaurants. Bliss!
