An Alien Solution

The story contains the following: "Democrats pledge that illegal immigrants will be prevented from jumping ahead in the citizenship line."

Luis V Gutierrez has a bill in the House ( HR 1557) which contains the following statement: "Reduction of Immigrant Visa Number- Upon the granting of an immigrant visa or permanent residence to Elvira Arellano, the Secretary of State shall instruct the proper officer to reduce by 1, during the current or next following fiscal year, the total number of immigrant visas that are made available to natives of the country of the alien's birth under section 203(a) of the Immigration and Nationality Act or, if applicable, the total number of immigrant visas that are made available to natives of the country of the alien's birth under section 202(e) of such Act."

Arellano is a CONVICTED FELON. Gutierrez is denying entry to a legal applicant in lieu of granting permanent residency to this felon. Not only is this an example of an illegal alien jumping ahead in line, it actually sends the message that he prefers granting permanent residence to a convicted felon over an honest applicant!!! This legislation is directly counter to what is stated in the news item about Democrats not allowing illegals to jump ahead in line.
