I live in the Perigod vert in the Dordogne, you mention Sarlat, different areas of the Perigord attract different people, some years ago in one of the English broadsheets was an article about the dordogne and the Perigod region and the "expats" who lived there ,it said the officers live in the Sarlat area , sergeants in the Riberac area and other ranks in the Nontron area , this doeas tend to hold true, but for one who lives in the Nontron region I prefer this especially to the Riberac region we have forests caves and lakes in abundance its like stepping back to how Britain was 50 years ago the local people are wonderful and providing you integrate and at least make an attempt to speak french they will not only open their homes to you but also their hearts. One could never live in a more beautiful place and every day my personal love affair with this region grows stronger.
