Black Writes Noir

A couple of mistakes: identification of character with author; false comparison of "The Book of Evidence" and "The Untouchable" with this book, to which the only answer is look at the prose and moral intent of the book. Above all, though, what makes me doubt the reviewer is his objection to "Not the sharpest tool in the box". But it wasn't Banville who said that, it was Andy Stafford who is indeed "not the sharpest tool". That's why he used the phrase.
