A Fine Souvenir of a Great Gala Night

Submitted by Isa Barini, Mar 21, 2007 00:08

I know about that Met night of 1972...No I was not there...But that summer Placido Domingo sang in Arene di Verona, in Torre del Lago ( Puccini's resting place), than la Scala, San Carlo  in Tourin....

Every Domingo's performance was the highest emotional thing that could happen to you!

He "conquered" Italy and people where split into Corello ( at the end...), Pavarotti....(no comparison with the "soul" Mr Domingo puts in his persformance..).  Despite he was not Italian my Countrymen choose him as their idol 80 % of them!

Corelli was a grat Otello, a great singer, the problem he went on until the voice was no more there...

But again what about Domingo's Otello???

He gets you involved  like nobody else WHY NOBODI ELSE IS "ENTERING" IN THE ROLE LOKE HIM!!!

WHEN HERE WAS DOING LATER ON Cavalleria and Pagliacci in one night he was finished at the end of the performance: not for problems of voice... but when starting Pagliacci he was still crying for having killed Santuzza.... That's Domingo UNIQUE SINGER OF ALL TIMES...(do not judge Caruso I was not born...t my mother  tell me he was so much like Placido!!!)
