Once again grand standing politicians are scaring all of us needlessly so they can ride in on their white horses. Most sex offenders leaving prison are not a threat to repeat. The greatest danger is from those never before caught. We require sex offenders to undergo threapy and then we do everything we can to destroy the progress.

Anyone pushed to the edge of society being told he will never be accepted and if he obeys the laws he will still be punished, is likely to crack. This will lead to mental illness, suicide attempts, a return for some to addictions of alcohol and drug abuse and a total hatred of society. And not just by the offender but also by his friends and familes even the children he is raising.

We need to start talking seriously and honestly about this program instead of treating all offenders as the next Ted Bundy or John Wayne Gacey.
