How Tolerant Are We?

Actually Joseph Smith Jr. also ran for President (just to get that record straight).

This is a very good article highlighting the bigotry that's prevalent in american soceity today. If you bash gays, ethnic minorities, disabled people you get big BOOOs by the media... but if you are decent law abiding clean-cut person and happened to be religious (mormon or otherwise) you will often be labeled a "sheep who can't think for herself/himself".

reality is that, in the mormon church you have a chance to develop leadership qualities at a very early age (both boys and girls), and most lds in their 40-50s have more leadership experience (so be it ,unpaid) than well known business managers and politicians do of the same age.

members of evangelicals, southern baptists, catholics (or whatever religious organization the media puts down this week) have a great amount of personal resource and resolution to do well in public service positions because of their faith.... and lds (mormons) tend to be even more so... look at the number of lds in the armed forces, for example than the proportion of the US citizenry. why? because of reliablility, resiliance and trustability.

it's not secularism, it is the open and unchallenged bigotry against religious people that brought this country to the brink of moral emptiness.
