I am currently 6 weeks shy of my bachelors social work degree. My field placement this semester is with an organization that specifically addresses gender-specific strategies in dealing with violence, health and mental health issues. Our main goal is to be able to provide boys AND girls the tools they need to be loving and nurturing adults in today's society. Our two divisions are not in competition with one another. As a matter of fact, without each other, we could not effectively carry out our mission statement. I specifically challenge the authors comments, "...Every time the feminist world comes up with a great idea to empower girls, it seems like guys are waiting in the wings to whine, 'We want one, too!' And that's what they get...," is totally baseless.

There are many national experts that talk about the biological, psychological and sociological aspects of gender differences. If messages like the one's in this article win over those of the national experts, then all of our children will continue to grow up in a society that does not embrace the equity of ALL.
