Halkin is wrong that Joe Lieberman's support of the war in Iraq is making Israel safer. On the contrary the disaster in Iraq for the United States has unleashed a worldwide army of suicide bombers. Witness the terror alerts in Great Britain warning of hundreds of jihadists who are being recruited from easily manipulated Muslim youth. They would gladly die to wreak havoc on the West not just Israel. Lieberman's support for the war in Iraq has been largely rejected by the American electorate. Tragically Bush has been able to dupe American lemmings that the war in Iraq is a war against terrorism.
