The End of Mayoral Control

Under Deputy Chancellor Alonso there is already an Office of Parent Engagement headed by Executive Director Judith K. Dean who has been there for some time. Just what is her function and salary if we now need a "chief family engagement officer" at an additional $150K? My own experience as a parent is that Ms. Dean is an impediment to parental involvement and runs interference on behalf of the educational bureaucracy and against parents, and I can prove it. Also note that clicking on the DOE office of parent Engagement link yields a page that reads, in its entirety, "Parent Engagement ---Coming Soon---" Clearly it has not yet arrived in this administration.

Ms. Guerrier says that she'll be "at the table" when the big decisions are made. She'll be at a table, I'm sure, just not at THE table.
