As a resident of new orleans I have complete faith that we can handle this event without a hitch. If there is one the New Orleans police can do right it is crowd control. This city has lots of experience putting on major sporting events. Remember New Orleans was the host of the first Super Bowl after 9-11 and it went off without any major problems.

Also, when we host mardi gras the police have to line a parade out that extends a few miles from downtown, for the all star game they will only have to concentrate on downtown and the french quarter. Yes people will probably have a hard time moving around on bourban street, but thats new orleans.

If I were the NBA the thing I would be worrying about more than anything would be if the airlines will have enough flights to serve the crowd that comes in. That has been one of the biggest problems post katrina with conventions.

New Orleans knows how to throw a party and I am confident it will be one of the best All Star weekends ever.
