B&H Photo Emerges as a N.Y. Institution

Not so much WIlloughby-Peerless, which was "the world's largest camera store", although more expensive than others. To me, it replaces 47th Street Photo, which may not have been so physically big, but had the best prices, and was also run by Satmar Hasidim. I used to go down there with my Dad (who hasn't managed to make the transition to digital photography). We were also big fans of Spiratone, which had its own line of a lot of things (enlargers, photo paper, 400mm f6.3 Girl-Watcher lens). That lasted longer than a lot of the old photo stores, on 31st St. between 6th & 7th.
