With an estimated 11 million plus illegal immigrants in the US, why would the 40,000 Irish lobby wish to join up with other reform groups? The US can easily assimilate the illegal Irish in a very short timeframe. Get them to pay up (i.e. no free ride) for the privilage though - Millions of people with varying degrees of financial resources,language and working skills, on the other hand will require a longer process.
