I don't know why Benny Avni is picking on the UN and South Africa regarding hypocritical resolutions. Saudi Arabia, that great bastion of civil liberties which voted for many resolutions condemning Israel did so during the same period that slavery was still legal in that country until 1963.

Pointing out the absurdities of the positions of the member states of the UN is like wondering how nations such as China, where political prisoners rot to death get to vote on condemning states like Israel for alleged violations of "human rights."

the UN has been a waste of billions of dollars of US taxpayer money for decades, but neither political party has the courage to pull the plug on this most corrupt of institutions. It is a total sham, but no different than those who "support the troops" at the same time they vote to deny them reinforcements in Congress.
