Agree wholeheartedly with John Dundon's above view. Rudy Giuliani is a modern-day needed political commodity to the Republican Party, and the ONLY candidate that can pose a threat to a Clinton Democratic win.

Why a commodity? - because he is both a neo-liberal politician that understands the realities of our globalized economy, and how dependent we truly are on external pressures. Rudy has also shown a firm hand in his management of tough issues, not only in his New York City, where he successfully met the most critical crises ever faced by any politician there, but also with his conservative outlook towards extreme groups that, even though they create much "noise", they do not represent an overall majority anywhere. This combination of liberalism and conservatism will no doubt be attractive to Republicans and Democrats alike, including elements from the far right that has erred so often in recent years due to their out-of-touch political and social positions.
