It's very simple, if you don't like the process, you buy a condo or a townhouse. Actually, the book that was briefly mentioned as the basis of the article also discusses a condo or two, including the Time Warner Center and the Meier glass towers in the West Village. It's a breathless, chatty, gossipy book, yet interesting chiefly for the descriptions of the buildings themselves (and the apartments therein),
