The writer's comment that 'aggrieved mullahs have been raging about the wicked West for hundreds of years' is nothing short of laughable. Hundred's of years ago it was the west that 'raged' about the decadence and wickedness of the Middle East and Muslims in particular, at a time when the world's leading centres of learning and intellectual enlightment were Muslim and Arab cities. It is unfortunate and plain stupid for people to keep interpreting 'Muslims' as one monolithic and homogenous entity. The Palestinian and Somali Muslims, for example, are worlds apart in terms of their interpretation and application of Islam as well how much of their historic or contemporary culture they have melded into their version of the Islamic faith. For example, female genital mutilation is a pre-Islamic African custom which has never existed in the Levant region of the Arab World but which some African Muslims have come to believe as Islamic although it would be strictyl forbidden in the Holy Quran. Readers who would like to learn the truth of Islam and Muslims should look to unbiased and objective writers to learn more (i.e Karen Armstron - once a Catholic nun). However if you're after some ignorant Muslim-bashing then please carry on reading the New York Sun.
