Frankly, I am surprised at the emotion and effort going into trying to pass or prevent a non-binding resolution by the Congress. The President is the Commander and Chief, and has the ultimate authority to set war strategy. On the other hand, what the Congress is trying to do is merely symbolic.

I look at it the same way as global warming: over a relatively small amount of time, those who deny the obvious will be forced to eat their words. As Iraq goes down the toilet, so goes our climate-soon it will be too painful to deny-deploying our military reservists for repeated tours or crippling heat waves, reality has a way of intruding, and changing stubborn minds.

Soon President Bush will leave office, and a realignment will occur-there is no way that any reasonable future administration will continue fighting a losing and extremely expensive Iraqi occupation, or insist upon only voluntary cuts in greenhouse gas emissions for that matter.
