IMG_7825web.jpg Guy Robinson and Elizabeth Stribling at the New York Botanical Garden's Conservancy Ball. The couple flew to Paris for Valentine's Day. Do couples who go to galas together stay together? The ones pictured here seem all the closer for the hours they spend supporting good causes. Sharing philanthropic interests -- and nights of dress-up, dancing, and champagne -- is romantic, fun, and a great New York tradition (although these days, it's common to see mates out solo ). Valentine's Day is that rare night off, a chance to stay home or find a quiet table at a restaurant. An exception will be New York Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly and his wife, Veronica, who will be attending a Valentine Gala at the Rainbow Room to benefit the Bowery Mission and Kids with a Promise. Mrs. Kelly is an event chairwoman. Online Extra: Valentine's Day Special: a photo album of couples on the town
