New York City Opera's first fall gala concert on Tuesday was a great success. The program, under the direction of Mark Lamos with George Manahan and Julius Rudel conducting, showed off seasoned and budding talent and the innovative repertory. The montage of video moments from City Opera's Live at Lincoln Center telecasts, put together by John Goberman, had impressive sound quality and gave the audience a triumphant stroll down memory lane. Read about it in my column today and see photos from the evening here.
