The crush of delegates, politicians, and journalists descending on Denver for the Democratic National Convention has proven too much for the "Taco Bell" branch on the 16th Street pedestrian mall.

"Sorry, we are out of chicken, beef, pizzas," reads a handwritten sign on the window of the depleted Mexican fast-food outlet. "We apologize for the inconvenience."

A manager said the restaurant didn't anticipate the surge of business, much of it probably from convention-goers dodging inflated prices at more upscale restaurants and hotels nearby. It was unclear whether those who make a run for the border on Monday will be disappointed.

"We should get our truck in a few hours," she said.
