The process for releasing records from President Clinton's library in Little Rock seems to have gathered speed in recent days as the issue hit center-stage in Senator Clinton's presidential bid.
"We have had a breakthrough," a National Archives spokesperson, Susan Cooper told The New York Sun this afternoon. "There should be a significant addition of materials coming up in the next few weeks."
Ms. Cooper said she was not referring to a small batch of photographs, UFO-related records, and other materials released today by the Clinton Library, which is operated by the National Archives. A story on that is here. She added that the forthcoming release would be in the range of a few thousand pages but not more than that.
None of the forthcoming records are expected to focus on Mrs. Clinton, though she could be mentioned in passing.
Finger-pointing over delays in releasing the records has continued in recent days after the issue was raised by NBC's Tim Russert at a Democratic presidential debate last week.
