1) Why don't Tennessee-based Thompson supporters — such as Rep. Zach Wamp, Senator Alexander, and Senator Corker — or their PACs turn up in Fred Thompson's first campaign filing?

Says Thompson campaign spokeswoman Linda Rozett: "The Friends of Fred Thompson is focused on thanking those who did contribute to this phase and will continue adding more contributions from donors as we move forward."

2) Why is a "testing the waters" committee taking donations above $2,300 (the limit for primary donations), and thus raising money for the general election?

Says Rozett: "The committee is soliciting donations sufficient to test the waters for a presidential campaign, although some individuals—in their enthusiasm—have contributed general election funds, as well."
