Catalan architects Beatriz Mínguez and Francesco Ducato and Taipei's experimental theater company, Shakespeare's Wild Sisters Group, are the first recipients of new fellowships at the Watermill Center, an artists' retreat founded in 1992 by avant-garde theater director Robert Wilson, the organization announced Monday.
The fellowships are the result of a collaboration between the Watermill Center, the Catalan Center at NYU, and the Taipei Cultural Center in Taiwan, to create prestigious fellowship residencies for Catalan and Taiwanese artists.
Ms. Mínguez and Mr. Ducato will be working with Mr. Wilson on an art installation at the Institut Valenciá D'Art Modern, Valencia's contemporary art museum. Shakespeare's Wild Sisters Group will be working on a new play.
